Welcome to the Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Training Course. This self-paced course is designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to become an effective CHW. You will have 20 weeks to complete the course from the time you enroll. Typically, this requires dedicating about ten hours per week. Students can complete the coursework in as little as 13 weeks if they dedicate at least 13-14 hours per week to their studies. The course includes pre-tests, readings, videos, coaching sessions with certified CHW instructors, interactive activities, recorded lectures, student activities, and post-tests. This course fulfills the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) requirements for initial certification of completion of an approved DSHS-certified 180-hour competency-based CHW training program.
